If you haven’t yet bought a Christmas tree, there are plenty of Boston-area farms, markets, and garden centers eager to help you pick the perfect one.
“Shop small and support our local businesses, especially in these times,” said Tara McKay of McKay’s Christmas Trees in Brighton. “We appreciate your business.”
It’s also a good idea to shop early, McKay said, as her business has sold out of trees early in the past three years.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, you’ll need a reservation to shop this farm on weekends beginning Nov. 27. Reservations may be made online on the farm’s website and are not required if shopping Monday through Thursday. The 6- to 8-foot tall trees range in price from $47 to $108, depending on the type and size. You’ll also find wreaths, garlands, ornaments, poinsettias, and baked goods if all that shopping makes you hungry. Masks are required for all customers and staff indoors. (259 Allandale Road, Brookline)
Bonny’s Garden Center in Cambridge
You can drop by this garden center daily through Christmas Eve, and shop for trees from $19.95 to $169.95 and up to 11 feet tall, as well as wreaths, ornaments, and poinsettias. (41 Bay State Road, Cambridge)
Boston Christmas Trees in Allston
This veteran-owned, family business will sell trees from Nov. 26 to Dec. 24, as well as tree stands, wreaths, garlands, and mantle pieces. The trees range from 3 to 12 feet and cost between $15 and $175. Curbside pickup and next day tree delivery are available. (22 Harvard Ave., Allston)
Kelly’s Christmas Trees/Comunity Trees in Boston
At Kelly’s Christmas Trees/Community Trees, a minority-owned tree business, customers can buy trees that are up to 10 feet tall, range in price from $45 to $300, and they can be delivered for a fee of $20 and up (delivery is free within 5 miles of the lot through Dec. 1). Customers can also get custom-decorated wreaths and tree stands at the lot, which is open until midnight on Dec. 24. Trees can be ordered via text or phone by calling 617-298-5512 or 857-891-0180. Owner Dannie Kelly said this about delivered trees that customers aren’t happy with: “If the tree doesn’t stay, you don’t pay.” (3-5 Bowdoin St., Dorchester)
McKay’s Christmas Trees in Brighton
You can take a selfie in front of a 14-foot inflatable Santa while shopping at this family-owned spot in Brighton, selling Christmas trees through Christmas Eve. The trees range in size from tabletop-sized to 12 feet tall and range in price from $20 to $150. Also for sale: wreaths complete with handmade bows, kissing balls, garlands, tree stands, lights, and ornaments. Hit the ATM first, the business is cash-only. (360 North Beacon St., Brighton)
Ricky’s Flower Market in Somerville
Not interested or able to strap a tree to the roof of your car? No problem. This Union Square market, open through Dec. 24, will deliver a tree to your door. Its trees, which stand up to 12 feet tall, range in price from $39.98 to $159, and cost $20 to $25 for local delivery. The market also sells decorative potted Christmas trees in all sizes, tabletop trees, wreaths, garlands, poinsettias, and mistletoe. (238 Washington St., Somerville)
