“Vote. Because it matters.’’

Former mayor of New York City Michael Bloomberg partnered with RadicalMedia and a number of female celebrities in a new video, “Because It Matters,’’ encouraging women to vote in the upcoming midterm elections.

In a statement, Bloomberg said that while more women than ever are running for office and most female voters support Democratic candidates in the House and Senate, there still appears to be a massive disparity in female voters.

“The polls suggest a gender gap in voting larger than anytime since the 1950s,’’ noted Bloomberg, who grew up in Medford. “But this election will be decided by turnout and getting people to cast their ballots.’’

The video touched on topics including immigration, gun safety, climate change, healthcare, LGBTQ rights, and women’s rights, among other issues.

“We hope that this campaign, featuring familiar faces in the entertainment industry, will inspire others to share their views and more importantly take action on Election Day,’’ Foster said in a statement. “It really matters.’’
