Meet the Boston DJ behind ‘Red Sox Nonstop Remix’

“The lyrics started flowing once I got the Drake beat,’’ he said. “I was like, ‘Yes, this is it.’ ’’

The Boston man behind a new Red Sox anthem said the players have been listening to it nonstop. Or make that: “Nonstop.’’

The “Red Sox Nonstop Remix’’ is the brainchild of the JAM’N 94.5 DJ, Maverik, also known as Kahleil Blair of Chelsea. The self-proclaimed “lifelong Boston sports fan’’ said he was so confident in his hometown team that he started writing the song before the last game of the World Series was over.

“I saw it coming from a mile away,’’ he said.

He said he chose to sample Drake’s “Nonstop’’ because the bassy beat captured the essence of the young team.

“This team’s got a swagger about it,’’ Blair said. “They’re young, they’re humble, but they’re hungry.’’

At 3 a.m., he headed to the 94.5 FM radio station in Medford to record right away. He said it took him about two hours total, since he started writing lyrics on the way.

Blair said before sampling “Nonstop,’’ he tried Cardi B’s summer hit, “I Like It,’’ but the vibe wasn’t there.

“The lyrics started flowing once I got the Drake beat,’’ he said. “I was like, ‘Yes, this is it.’ ’’

Blair said JAM’N 94.5 has been playing his remix regularly for the past few days. He also posted a video of Mookie Betts listening to it on the plane. It’s unclear if the song was played from the duck boats during Wednesday’s parade, but Blair said he performed the song at Tuesday night’s Icon party with the Sox.

Blair is no rookie when it comes to songs celebrating New England sports triumphs. He’s written songs for the Patriots and the Celtics — he doesn’t heavily follow the Bruins but still supports them — but none has taken off quite like this.
