Scarborough, Brzezinski get a little political at Harvard

and Mika Brzezinski, coanchors of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe’’ and current Fellows at the Kennedy School’s Institute of Politics, have a lot to say about President Trump.
But they mostly restrained themselves at a town hall-style conversation with Harvard students Wednesday night.
Mostly.
The couple — Scarborough and Brzezinski are engaged to be married — could not resist occasionally skewering the president during what was billed as a “rational exchange’’ on the state of America and public service.
Introduced by Harvard’s president, Drew Faust, and joined by John Della Volpe, the IOP’s director of polling, Scarborough and Brzezinski said it’s a “frightening time’’ in the life of the country, but both parties deserve blame.
“We got here with the help of the Democratic and Republican administrations that left a large part of the country out,’’ said Brzezinski. “This president is not going to be a unifying force, and some people like that disruption.’’
Of course, Scarborough and Brzezinski have a history with Trump. In July, the president engaged in an intensely personal Twitter attack on the pair. Trump lashed out at ‘‘Crazy Joe Scarborough and dumb as a rock Mika,’’ and claimed Brzezinski was ‘‘bleeding badly from a face lift’’ when he saw them at his Mar-a-Lago resort last winter.
Scarborough said there’s been “hyper partisanship’’ in the country for decades, but Trump has nurtured it effectively and to his benefit.
“The president said today that he wants to look into taking the licenses away from TV networks,’’ he said, sounding incredulous.
“Only a moron would say that,’’ said Brzezinski, a grin on her face.
