The city of Provincetown is playing host to a mass lesbian wedding next month, one that organizers hope will set a world record. Alli Baldwin and Ilene Mitnick, who own Roux Bed and Breakfast, organized the “Bride Pride” exchanging of vows, which will occur on October 15 on the lawn of their inn and will be officiated by comedian and LGBTQ advocate Kate Clinton. The event is just one of more than 100 events during the seaside town’s annual Women’s Week, which, in its 32nd year, is the longest continuously running women’s cultural festival, according to Roux’s website. The celebration is open to both lesbian couples looking to get newly married and those wishing to renew their vows, but those hoping to get hitched that day have to register by Thursday and apply for a marriage license. Those renewing vows can sign up as late as the day of the ceremony. According to The Boston Globe, 39 couples had signed up as of Tuesday. Baldwin and Mitnick expect that more couples already in town for Women’s Week will join them.“When Kate is conducting the ceremony and all the women say their vows simultaneously, there will just be a hum of love. It’s just going to be a love fest on the front lawn,” Baldwin told the Globe. “It’s going to be an absolutely beautiful day.”
