Cape Cod has ‘America’s favorite beach town,’ survey says
American travelers yearn for the sandy stretches, artsy culture, and vibrant nightlife of the northernmost beach town on Cape Cod, according to a recent survey.Provincetown was voted “America’s favorite beach town” in Travel + Leisure‘s annual America’s Favorite Places survey.“You’re surrounded by water, and at sunset when the light shines over the dunes and reflects off the boats, it’s spectacular,” Boston restaurateur Brian Piccini told the magazine. This “prime waterfront real estate” hosts a creative crowd that spends its days out in the sun or walking along the many galleries, Travel + Leisure said. At night, bars host Broadway performers, dancing, and drag shows.Hilton Head, South Carolina, and Naples, Florida, were ranked second and third, respectively, while Newport, Rhode Island, came in at No. 13. In the America’s Favorite Places survey, readers evaluate numerous destinations across a range of categories. The survey also ranked Boston as one of the rudest cities in America.
