Presenting the Bostonian of the Week

A weekly shoutout to a special someone of the city.

Welcome to Bostonian of the Week, a weekly Boston.com series in which we give a giant high five to someone who’s done our fair city proud. This could be anyone in, around, or associated with Boston—from a wellness-obsessed supermodel wife of the town’s star quarterback to a little girl with a gibberish-laden sign at the Boston Marathon to the many other personalities that crop up around us in the news. The good eggs are out there, people.HBO

Earlier in this week’s news cycle, an area man appeared on a premium television network to provide the nation with a fiery rant on local sports. This man was Ben Affleck, this network was HBO, and this fiery rant was about Deflategate.

If you haven’t seen Affleck’s appearance on the debut of Bill Simmons’s new series, Any Given Wednesday, check it out here. It’s a special spectacle, to put it diplomatically. While some wondered if Affleck might have been intoxicated during this interview, a friend of Affleck told TMZ that he was “stone-cold sober” and “the slurring is just how passionate he is” about Tom Brady.

In fact, Affleck took to Facebook Thursday afternoon to reflect on his interview and reveal his lack of regret.

“For those of you keeping score at home, I gave exactly 18 f*cks about my Pats,” he wrote. “Upon reflection, 12 probably would have been sufficient. We Boston sports fans have always been known for our subtlety.”

This week, we thank Ben Affleck for reminding us that Tom Brady is so classy. And that Deflategate is the worst.
