Matilda is truly out of this world.

Meet Matilda, a blind tabby who has enormous, alien-like eyeballs.

While the cat’s eyes look like a mix of E.T. and the aliens from Independence Day, it hasn’t stopped Matilda from amasing over 40,000 Instagram followers.

Matilda was born on Valentine’s Day in 2013, according to a website set up by her owners. They adopted the out-of-this-world looking feline from a shelter when she was 12 weeks old.

Before veterinarians diagnosed Matilda with spontaneous lens luxation, she was just a happy, normal looking kitty.

While the genetic condition left Matilda blind, her owners decided to not go through with an invasive surgery that would have put her through unecessary pain.

“As long as Matilda remained happy and healthy, that was the only thing that mattered,’’ wrote the owners on Matilda’s website.

Despite her condition, Matilda seems pretty happy—especially with her new-found Internet fame.

The cat does need eye medication to relieve her pain, but luckily, a GoFundMe campaign raised over $2,500 for Matilda in just days. Some of the proceeds will go to other pets in need.

Matilda seems nice now, but it’s only a matter of time until the invasion begins.
