Sights and Standouts from the Architectural Digest Home Show 2012
I spent a wonderful (and long) two days at the Architectural Digest Home Show, wandering the rows, eyes wide, notebook and camera ready, while excitement buzzed in the air. Bigwigs and up-and-comers alike flock to Pier 94, filling the massive space with all things home — and a whole lot of inspiration. It has an unmistakable kid-in-a-candy-store feel that I just can’t get enough of. And while there was a plethora to explore and adore, I’m sharing a select few of my favorite finds (some with NE roots), like this vignette from the BDDW booth (above) showcasing their signature style.
With Spring in the air, the Pennoyer Newman booth was a spot on, highlighting their garden pots, which are cast from estate originals. O&G Studio has been on my short list for years, thanks to their wonderfully colorful seating (and RI address). But this year, it was the vignette featuring their luggage rack (below) that had me.
Goblets galore! These one-of-a-kind hand-blown pieces by Vetro Vero (Michael Schunke & Josie Gluck) are available individually or as a group, like the dramatic black set on the second shelf (above). Mercury glass is blown into fluid shapes for this instillation by Bueno Glass.
Just adored dbO Home‘s booth! What a marvelous way to display their handcrafted pottery — atop one of their stunning wood tables, as artwork to backdrop it (above), and grouped neatly along a shelf (below).
Shiplights‘s booth was a lesson in quintessential New England touches. My favorite — the Aneroid Barometer (above). I was drawn to the striking lines and rich colors of the decanters (below) by Joe Cariati.
