Sneak Peek from the Renovation Issue: Kitchen Addition Before & After
Architect Andrew Sidford sees the recent kitchen addition he designed as “a butterfly on a stone.” But since the stone is a formidable 1771 Georgian manse, he needed one gargantuan Monarch — and clients ready to take a flight of fancy — to get the job done.
As these before (above) and afters (below) attest, his arched pavilion liberated the colonial-era house from its squared-up, straight-lined expression giving it instead a bold, welcoming bearing. You can almost hear the old clapboards sigh with relief as the corset of time is loosened. It is quite a metamorphosis.
