How you can join a giant yoga class at Gillette
On April 30, the Empower Field House at Gillette Stadium will transform into a giant yoga studio with an expected 1,000 yogis stretching in unison.
It’s all part of the New England Yogathon, organized by nonprofit Yoga Reaches Out to benefit Boston Children’s Hospital’s Yoga Reaches Out Wellness Center. The center offers yoga, reiki, and meditation to families of patients. This Yogathon will also benefit Off the Mat Into the World, a nonprofit organization that bridges yoga and activism.
In 2016, the New England Yogathon raised more than $300,000.
This year’s, the event’s seventh, will feature New England yoga instructors in the morning sessions and renowned yoga instructor Seane Corn in the afternoon. Corne, co-founder of Off the Mat Into the World, has created yoga programs for children and has raised awareness for sexually exploited kids and HIV/AIDS.

Yoga Reaches Out founder Sarah Gardner, center in white, of Wayland, holds a pose with the entire crowd and her daughter Emma, right, on the turf field inside the Empower Fieldhouse during the 2016 Yogathon.
The Yogathon will also include yoga, music, food, a marketplace with more than 30 vendors selling jewelry, yoga mats, books, and healthy snacks, and fundraising raffles—you could win two three-day tickets to Wanderlust Stratton or a football signed by Rob Gronkowski.
“It’s a unique and special event,” said Sarah Gardner, founder of Yoga Reaches Out, in a statement. “We’ve assembled an incredible group of yoga instructors, musicians, sponsors and vendors, all giving of themselves to make it a special day of yoga, community, fun and selflessness.”
You can register for the Yogathon here. Participants are asked to raise at least $250 prior to the event.
