ClassPass gets rid of unlimited fitness classes, and members freak out
ClassPass members, take heed.
The popular (and pricey) service that lets subscribers attend a variety of fitness classes at boutique studios will no longer offer an unlimited plan. Members will now have to buy a 5- or 10-pack of classes, with the option to add more.
CEO Payal Kadakia, an MIT grad who was recently in Boston for the Forbes Under 30 Summit, elaborated on the announcement in a blog post Wednesday, saying that the unlimited option was no longer economically sustainable.
“For every class taken, we paid our studio partners. The more classes that were taken, the more we paid. As you can imagine, our business costs increased rapidly,” Kadakia wrote.
