Help Yawkey the pig find his way home!
This plush pig is giving us summer envy.
On Tuesday, August 4, Mary Schwalm, a professional photographer from the Merrimack Valley, found a plush, pink pig in the Yawkey Garage of Massachusetts General Hospital.
In 15 days, this orphaned stuffed animal has been whale watching, motorcycle riding, graced the front page of The Eagle-Tribune, built a sand castle, visited a farm, and made a canine friend called “jpeg.’’
Schwalm, a former Eagle-Tribune photographer, told the paper that she named the pig “Yawkey’’ after the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center where her wife has been receiving cancer treatment. She brought him home, gave him a good wash, and started documenting his journey around the state this summer.
“To think that there’s either a kid that has cancer, or there’s a kid that was visiting a parent that has cancer, and now he’s lost his stuffed animal, it just broke my heart,’’ Schwalm told The Eagle-Tribue.
“Maybe the kid is missing his pig. I want to make sure the pig is having a good time while he’s waiting to be reunited with the kid.’’
