Wicked good fashion: The best-dressed celebrities at the 2017 Emmys

One could argue that Boston itself is an A-list star in Hollywood. Movies that filmed here over the past few years have showcased this city’s pride and tenacity, underbelly and grit, from the Academy Award-winning Spotlight (2015) and Manchester by the Sea (2016), to Stronger, Patriots Day, Live by Night, and Black Mass. But for as much clout as Boston carries on the silver screen, fashion has never been this city’s strong suit. With that in mind, we’ve decided to analyze the Emmy Awards red carpet in our own Bostonian way: Were the looks wicked good or wicked bad?

In this case, the celebrities rocked the night.

Nicole Kidman of ‘Big Little Lies’ looked every bit a movie star for television’s biggest night.

Actress and future Harvard student Yara Shahidi glowed in an A-line, green sequined gown.

Like Kidman, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ actress Elisabeth Moss walked the carpet in one of the night’s biggest trends: a tea-length dress.

‘Modern Family’ star Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s forest green tux jacket complemented his red hair.

One word to describe actress Jessica Biel’s look: ethereal.

Actress Jane Fonda was stunning and statuesque in bright pink, but it was her ponytail that made her look.

For all the bold colors on the carpet, ‘Westworld’ actress Angela Sarafyan still managed to stand out in mustard yellow.

Actress Tatiana Maslany was in Boston last week to premiere ‘Stronger.’ On Sunday, she premiered a strikingly simple — or simply striking — black gown.

Issa Rae of ‘Insecure’ should be hugely confident in her one-shouldered red gown and luminous makeup.

‘The Crown’ star Claire Foy looked both regal and modern in a caped black jumpsuit.
