SoWa is holding an outdoor fashion show this Sunday
Attention fashion enthusiasts: Local talent will be on display this weekend during SoWa’s first ever outdoor fashion show.
Boston’s SoWa Art and Design District will host the event in the South End this Sunday, transforming Thayer Street into an “urban runway” as part of Boston Fashion Week, SoWa Boston said in a statement. The event is free and open to the public.
“SoWa Style: South End Fashion Discovery” will kick off at 1 p.m., followed by a second show at 2:30 p.m. The show will feature 13 local designers and retailers debuting their new fall fashions.
“Our focus is on putting these amazing designers and SoWa on the map,” Bradley St. Amand, director of operations for SoWa and GTI Properties, said. “We want to showcase the fashion and talent we have here, and support the local communities.”
SoWa Vintage Market, Ash & Rose, Amisha Imports, Bead & Fiber, and Bobby from Boston are some of the retailers showcasing their work this weekend.

“There is such a diverse group of artisans here,” KB Productions founder and the show’s producer Kathy Benharris said. “SoWa is an amazing place to source fashion and accessories, and we want to highlight this area as a true fashion shopping destination.”
The event will also feature DJ Leah V., creating a “daytime party celebrating fashion,” according to Benharris. She said the show will fuse different styles and fashions in a cohesive way, flowing from casual wear to a more glamorous finale.
St. Amand said they hope to hold this event every year as part of Boston Fashion Week. BFW is hosting events from Friday to September 30 throughout the city.
“Boston Fashion Week is growing and evolving,” Benharris said. “There is something for everybody, and so many younger people are putting on events in their own creative ways.”
