Kim Kardashian, Kanye West Vogue cover may outsell Beyonce, Obama
Sigh.
You can put down the Haterade — Kimye’s Vogue cover is selling like hotcakes, and it’s all. your. fault.
According to Page Six, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding-themed April cover is “on track to sell 300,000 to 400,000 copies.’’ This puts the couple on the same high-sales tier as fellow cover stars for the same season just last year —and that includes Michelle Obama (approx. 300,000 in April) and Beyonce (approx. 355,000 in March.) A Vogue rep told Page Six that they “never comment on sales figures,’’ but everyoneseemsto bewavingaroundthesenumbers like they’ve always been a guarantee.
Remember when y’all were mad?
As for Vogue EIC Anna Wintour and how she’s taking the cover’s success, she wants you to know that, despitepopularbelief, this was her idea from the very beginning. In the issue’s editor’s letter, she wrote:
“As for the cover, my opinion is that it is both charming and touching, and it was, I should add, entirely our idea to do it; you may have read that Kanye begged me to put his fiancée on Vogue’s cover. He did nothing of the sort. The gossip might make better reading, but the simple fact of the matter is that it isn’t true.’’
And yet we’re still waiting for #WORLDSMOSTTALKEDABOUTCOUPLE to catch on….
