Brands are supposedly paying celebrities tens of thousands to go to Coachella

Coachella experienced the winds of change over the years — long gone are the days of peace, love, and a cult-worthy hybrid of mainstream and indie rock, and what we’re left with is a smorgasboard of fans of fake bands, flower-crowns-for-Tweets booths, and bikini-induced weight loss encouragement via the festival’s unofficial “diet.’’ And sinking further our disenchantment, the New York Daily News unearthed rumored numbers floating over the heads of celebrities said to be attending this year’s festival.

“Gimmie Shelter’’ star Vanessa Hudgens will reportedly fetch a cool $15,000 for attending Coachella, courtesy of McDonald’s, while “Glee’’ actress Lea Michele is said to get $20,000 via Lacoste for wearing the brand to the shows. What exactly McDonald’s is paying Hudgens for is pretty vague, but given the vast number of corporate/brand-sponsored party houses on-site, we’re sure it’ll entail something like lounging by the pool, nibbling on some McNuggets while Instagram-happy tweens snap on. Just last year, Micky D’s roped Katy Perry and Hudgen’s fellow “Spring Breaker’’ Ashley Benson into their Premium McWrap Coachella Party (lol) at the Bootsy Bellows estate, where Carmen Electra was presented with a birthday cake shaped as a giant McWrap. So, stranger things have happened.

Also rumored to be searching for Coachella cashouts: Kate Bosworth ($30,000), Aaron Paul ($15,000), and Joe Jonas (“somewhere under $20,000’’), who not only want cash money, they want VIP tickets valued at $799 a pop, per weekend. (Paul only wants two — amateur.)

Coachella kicks off Friday, April 11 in Indio, Calif.
