Donald Glover is dusting off his music alter-ego Childish Gambino for his first world tour since 2019. Glover (as Childish Gambino) will visit North America, Europe, and Oceania (specifically Australia and New Zealand) during what’s being billed the New World Tour, including a concert in Boston at TD Garden on Friday, Aug. 23 at 8 p.m.
Glover will be joined at his Boston show (and all other North American dates) by Willow, the musician and daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith who first broke through with the 2010 single “Whip My Hair.” Outside of North America, Glover will be supported on tour by R&B artist Amaarae.
Glover’s tour announcement came on the heels of the newest Childish Gambino album, “Atavista,” which dropped Sunday night. The album is a more polished version of Glover’s unfinished 2020 record “3.15.20,” which he briefly released on DonaldGloverPresents.com before quickly taking it down.
ATAVISTA is streaming now.

Glover has been busy since his 2019 tour, which came on the heels of his award-winning single “This Is America” and was highlighted by a headlining set at Coachella.
In the interim, Glover wrapped up his Emmy-winning FX show “Atlanta” and co-created two shows for Prime Video: The horror series “Swarm” and the spy thriller “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” in which he also co-starred. Glover is also working on “Lando,” a Star Wars movie in which Glover will reprise his role as suave smuggler-turned-politician Lando Calrissian from the movie “Solo.”
Tickets for Glover’s Childish Gambino concert in Boston at TD Garden go on sale to the general public on Friday, May 17 through Ticketmaster. Before then, pre-sales for American Express cardholders and verified fans begin on Wednesday, May 15 at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., respectively.
