2021 Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade canceled due to COVID-19
For the second straight year, the city's annual St. Patrick's Day celebration will not go forward.
For the second consecutive year, Boston’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The South Boston Allied Veterans Council announced on Twitter Tuesday morning that due to state restrictions limiting outdoor public events to 25 people, the 2021 Boston St. Patrick’s Day Parade will not be held.
“Due to ongoing state restrictions limiting outdoor public events to 25 people, the 2021 South Boston St. Patrick’s Day / Evacuation Day Parade has been canceled,” the council wrote. “We look forward to finally seeing you all again in 2022.”

The council’s announcement comes approximately 10 months after Mayor Marty Walsh cancelled the 2020 edition of the parade “out of an abundance of caution” on March 9, 2020. Prior to its cancellation, organizers said they expected more than 1 million people to attend the 119th edition of the parade.
