Next summer, TD Garden is getting slammed.

World Wrestling Entertainment announced on Thursday that Boston will host SummerSlam Week 2020. The in-ring action starts Friday, August 21, 2020 with “SmackDown Live,” followed by “NXT Take Over” on the 22nd, the namesake event “SummerSlam” on the 23rd, and “Monday Night Raw” on the 24th.

The multi-day event will also include autograph signings and community outreach programs.

“We have an incredible history with WWE and are honored that they have once again selected TD Garden as the home of SummerSlam,” president of TD Garden Amy Latimer said in a news release. “We’ve dramatically enhanced the arena experience with the addition of The Hub on Causeway and recent arena expansion, and we are thrilled to showcase these tremendous upgrades with fans for one of WWE’s biggest marquee events.”

WWE executive vice president of special events John P. Saboor told The Boston Globe he expects the events to bring about 50,000 fans from around the country and globe to the arena, as well as “tens of millions of dollars in new economic impact in Boston.” Boston previously hosted SummerSlam in 2006, which culminated in a face-off between West Newbury native John Cena and Edge. According to Saboor, next summer will be the first time that the WWE has presented four nights of events at TD Garden.
