Fall is in full swing. This month will bring some performing arts highlights, interesting conversations, and spooky Halloween events.

SoWa Style: SoWa’s 2nd Annual Fashion Show

SoWa will kick off Boston Fashion Week with an outdoor show featuring its Art + Design District’s designers and retailers. Shows are free and open to the public, promoting the idea of the “urban runway.” (Sunday, October 1, at 1 and 2:30 p.m.; 450 Harrison Ave., Boston; free; all ages)

Hearing in Color: Synesthesia and the Musician

This hybrid lecture and performance will explore how synesthesia, a neurological phenomenon that causes one to inherently associate characters or sounds with colors or shapes, impacts musicians. The event will feature live performances by five musicians and a speaker to discuss the neurology of synesthesia. Throwing Shade Live

Erin Gibson and Bryan Safi, hosts of the popular political comedy podcast and television show Throwing Shade, will be stopping in Boston for their live tour. The live show will allow attendees to interact with the pair that Entertainment Weekly called “the perfect combination of silly, intelligent, cynical, and charming.” (Sunday, October 15, at 7 p.m.; Royale, Boston; $25; 18+)

Fun Home

A five-time Tony Award winner, Fun Home presents protagonist Alison reflecting on her childhood and her relationship with her father at three different ages. The Nor’easters present: REVIVAL

In the spring, the Nor’Easters won the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella final for the second time in five years. (Remember Pitch, Perfect?) Now they are organizing a public performance that will celebrate their past and current sound for their 20th anniversary. Full Body Cast’s 2017 Halloween Rocky Horror Picture Show

Boston’s Full Body Cast will be performing three shows in five days for Halloween. Along with a traditional shadowcast of the film, the Halloween performances occur in a larger theater with 30 minutes of original live preshows from the cast. Convoluted Conceptions: Greek Mythology

Featuring performances from Contemporarily Out of Order’s professional and youth dance companies, this show retells several Greek myths. The stories of Medusa, Persephone, Orpheus, Athena, and more will be retold entirely in dance. (Saturday, October 28, at 8 p.m.; BU Dance Theatre, Boston; $20+; all ages)

Halloween Horror Marathon

The Coolidge Corner Theatre’s Halloween Horror Marathon returns for the 17th time. The first two movies are Zombie and Night of the Living Dead. The Nightmare Before Christmas
