5 ways to celebrate Galentine’s Day in Boston
is the day that precedes Feb. 14 and is all about showing love and gratitude to the female friends in your life. Whether you’re spending Valentine’s Day with your significant other or have a hot date with Ben and Jerry, here are five ways to take the day before to celebrate with the awesome women-loves of your life.
Galentines & Wine at Trident
If only men could understand women like Trident Booksellers & Cafe does. They’re hosting a Galentine’s Day wine and coloring party for you and your girlfriends, because what more could you want (*cough* equal pay *cough*)? A $10 ticket includes all of the materials your need to make your own Galentine’s Day cards, with wine and food available for purchase. Plus, proceeds from each $10 ticket will go to event organizer and Boston Marathon runner Andrea Gendron’s Marathon charity, the Martin Richard MR8 foundation. After all, women supporting women is what Galentine’s Day is all about. (Monday, February 13 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Trident Booksellers & Cafe, Boston; $10 ticket; all ages)
Ladyfest Boston’s Galentine’s Benefit
Ladyfest Boston is holding a Galentine’s Day concert featuring local bands like the Mini Dresses and Mint Green to benefit the Ladyfest Boston 2017 music festival, which will be held in April. Ladyfest Boston is part of the international Ladyfest group, which runs community-based music festivals that highlight underrepresented feminist and woman artists, so you know this event will be all about #GirlPower. At the event, you’ll also be able to buy Galentine’s cards, Ladyfest pins and patches, and mystery prize bags to benefit the Ladyfest Boston music festival. (Monday, February 13 from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.; Charlie’s Kitchen, Cambridge; $5 at door; 21+)
Bos Lady Project: Galentine’s Day
, an organization that connects strong women through monthly workshops, events, and networking opportunities, is hosting a Galentine’s Day party with crafts, cupcakes, and a chance to mingle with other lady bosses. The event is being held in a Breather space (which is like Airbnb for businesses), and tickets are available to purchase in advance for $13. Who knows, maybe you’ll get a cupcake and meet the next Sheryl Sandberg. (Monday, February 13 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; 715 Boylston St., Boston; $13; all ages)
Galentine’s Day with Fresh
On Galentine’s Day, you “treat yo’ self,” and there’s no better way to do so than at a “pampering soiree” with your gals at Fresh on Newbury Street. The store is offering a complimentary “Love Yourself” master class, where each attendee will receive a customized skincare treatment, including a cleanse, mask, treatment, and moisturizer. You and your friends will also leave with deluxe Fresh samples to keep your skin glowing all month long. Fresh is offering the class through February by appointment. (Throughout February by appointment, 10 a.m. through 7 p.m.; Fresh, Boston; free; all ages)
Galentine’s Day at The Smoke Shop
The Smoke Shop in Cambridge is hosting a Galentine’s Day party for all of the meat-loving women out there. Entry into the affair means a glass of bubbly, appetizers, and four hours’ worth of danceable ’80s hits. Advance tickets are available for $23; tickets at the door are $28. (Monday, February 13 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; The Smoke Shop, Cambridge; $23 for an advance ticket, $28 at the door; 21+)
