Boston City Hall’s new lights will be unveiled Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

The usually drab Boston City Hall will be illuminated by a colorful light show Thursday.

City Hall’s new lights will be unveiled during the final Beer Garden on the Bricks event, Mayor Marty Walsh’s office announced.

In an effort to “bring new light and new life to Boston City Hall,” the mayor’s office said the exterior light installation will be demonstrated at 6:30 p.m. during the “Light Bright Beer Garden” on City Hall Plaza.

The new fixtures will bathe the building in a “warm white light,” with the capacity to project various colors during special events, according to the mayor’s office.

The final beer garden event will be the largest, the mayor’s office said, with more food and drink options, and a chance to win a $2,500 “holiday mad dash shopping spree” in Boston’s Main Streets’ districts.

The “Light Bright Beer Garden” starts at 5 p.m., and is free and open to the public.
