Martha’s Vineyard International Film Festival to honor Sharon Stone

Actress and humanitarian Sharon Stone will be honored at the 11th annual Martha’s Vineyard International Film Festival in September.

Stone will be presented with the Martha’s Vineyard Film Society Global Citizen Award for her philanthropic work on September 9, at 7 p.m., at the Film Center in Vineyard Haven, the Martha’s Vineyard Film Society said in a statement Thursday.

The society said Stone has donated her time and money to numerous charities, including amfAR, AIDS LIFE, American Foundation for Aids Research, Cinema for Peace, Habitat for Humanity, Homeless not Toothless, Celebrity Fight Night, and Lupus LA.

The festival, lasting from September 6-11, will take place at the Capawock Theatre and the Film Center in Vineyard Haven, and will feature films celebrating the world’s different cultures, according to the society.

The documentary short “An Undeniable Voice,” produced by and featuring Stone, and directed by Price Arana, is one of the 10 finalists chosen for the International Short Films Juried Competition, according to the statement. The Best Overall Short will be picked after the finalists are screened at the Capawock Theatre on September 10 at 6:30 p.m.

The film tells the story of Sam Harris, the youngest person to have escaped a concentration camp in Germany, the society said. .
