Coppersmith’s Summer Startup Bash
Boston startup Tablelist is throwing a party on Coppersmith’s rooftop in South Boston. You, plus other cool startup companies in Boston, are invited to join and, you know, do some connecting. (Thursday, August 25 at 6 p.m.; Coppersmith, South Boston; $1 admission; 21+)
Kenny Chesney at Gillette Stadium
Country Fest returns to Foxborough for two nights with Kenny Chesney headlining, along with other country music sensations Miranda Lambert, Sam Hunt, and Old Dominion. Just like last year (and the year before and the year before…), it’s gonna be huge. (Friday, August 26 at 5 p.m. and Saturday, August 27 at 5 p.m.; Gillette Stadium; $59.50+)
Free Outdoor Movies
Lots of places around town have been hosting free outdoor movie screenings all summer long. The series are nearing their ends now that summer’s almost over, so catch the last of the films—like Some Like It Hot, Mary Poppins, and Ant-Man—while you still can. (Some Like It Hotscreens at dusk on Friday, August 26 at the Boston Harbor Hotel; Ant-Man screens at 6 p.m. on Friday, August 26 at the Hatch Shell; Mary Poppins screens at 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 27 at the Prudential Center)
St. Anthony’s Feast 2016
The North End’s annual Italian celebration in honor of St. Anthony is one of the city’s biggest summer events. The 97th (97th!!) edition of the feast will have an outdoor parade, musical performances, and — per usual — So. Much. Food. (Friday, August 26 at 7 p.m. to Monday, August 29 at 10:30 p.m.; North End, Boston; free to attend)
Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally’s Summer of 69: No Apostrophe
The Parks and Rec duo (and real-life married couple) is coming to Boston for a night of laughs (obviously), music, and schticks about love and sex. (Friday, August 26 at 7 p.m. and 9:45 p.m.; The Wilbur; $49.50+)
The Dresden Dolls Live
Boston’s own punk cabaret band led by local musicians Amanda Palmer and Brian Viglione returns to its hometown for one night only this weekend. (Friday, August 26 at 7:30 p.m.; Blue Hills Pavilion; $20+; all ages)
Large Format Photography Workshop
If your Insta game is killing it (and come on, you know), make your photo skills even stronger with an intro to photography class. This hands-on workshop, led by Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Greg Marinovich, will take you outside to learn the real techniques of working a camera. (Saturday, August 27 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Boston University Photographic Studios; $550)
Country Boat Cruise
For those who can’t make Country Fest (bummer), board this cruise ship out of Boston for a day of drinking and country music. Local country band Dalton and the Sheriffs will be aboard, and a bikini contest is supposed to take place. Ahoy! (Sunday, August 28 at 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.; 200 Seaport Blvd., Boston; $15; 21+)
Red Sox Showcase
An interactive mobile truck designed to look like Fenway Park is setting up shop in Faneuil Hall so everyone can play like the pros. The truck carries a batting cage, pitching stations, a “steal 2nd challenge,” a Green Monster selfie station, and a virtual reality experience. (Sunday, August 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Faneuil Hall; free)
Summer Sports Tea Dance
Local nonprofit Victory Programs is teaming up with dbar in Dorchester for a day of sports, dancing, raffles, drinking, and more with the LGBT sports community. Show up wearing a wig and your favorite sports gear, and you’ll be good to go. (Sunday, August 28 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.; dbar, Dorchester; free to attend, but donations suggested)
