Revere Beach Sand Sculpting Festival

This isn’t your average dribble-castle contest, folks. These beachmasters know how to make things out of sand that you would never think could be made out of sand. Watch them bring a little bit of beauty to Revere Beach all weekend long. (Friday, July 22 at 10 a.m. to Sunday, July 24 at 8 p.m.; Revere Beach; free; all ages)

Boston PokeWalk

Have you taken a stroll through Boston Common in the last week or two and seen eager Pokemon Go trainers glued to their phones? That’s exactly what will happen at Boston’s PokeWalk, but with way more people. Meet some fellow trainers, catch some Pokemon, and be the very best, like no one ever was. (Saturday, July 23 all day long; Boston Common and surrounding areas; free; all ages)

Boston Mini Maker Faire

An all-ages gathering of creators, the Mini Maker Faire allows people who build, design, engineer, or program things of all shapes and sizes to come, make something cool, and share how they were able to do it with other like-minded makers. (Saturday, July 23 at 10 a.m.; Children’s Museum; $10; all ages)

Boston Crawl Country Bar Crawl

Country musicians like to sing about drinking beer, so it’s only appropriate that you entertain them back by doing as they preach. Throw on those boots and hats, say things like “y’all,” and make stops at watering holes like The Greatest Bar and Causeway. (Saturday, July 23 at 12 p.m.; The Greatest Bar; $12-$45; 21+)

Crawl to Rio Bar Crawl

If country crawling ain’t your thing, perhaps you’d like to share a few drinks with some rugby players. Join the Charles River Rugby Rats as they bounce from bar to bar, hosting mini competitions at each location, and helping to raise money for their team. (Saturday, July 23 at 2 p.m.; The Harp; $15-$20; 21+)

Hyde Park Jazz Festival

The Jason Palmer Quintet, MIXCLA +1, and more will take to the Martini Memorial Shell for a day of local jazz. The seventh annual festival is curated by a Berklee College of Music professor, so you know the tunes will be good. (Saturday, July 23 at 3 p.m.; DCR Martini Memorial Shell; free; all ages)

We Are Not Our Past

Join in on a live panel on Boston’s history with race relations and a discussion about how the city can improve its communities in the future. The event will feature guest speakers and performers, including Grammy Award winner David Banner. (Saturday, July 23 at 3 p.m.; Strand Theatre; $22-$40; all ages)

American Car Day

The Larz Anderson Auto Museum will host a collection of patriotic cars for your viewing pleasure. Sport some red, white, and blue, and check out the cool vintage rides that people used to bring to drive-ins, soda jerks, and all those other sweet old-timey American locations. (Sunday, July 24 at 10 a.m.; Larz Anderson Auto Museum; $10; all ages)

6th Annual African Festival of Boston

African art, music, and culture liven up the Rose Kennedy Greenway all day on Saturday, featuring performances from Botswana’s Kearoma Rantao, Nigeria’s Wowo Boyz, and many more. (Sunday, July 24 at 11 a.m.; Rose Kennedy Greenway; free; all ages)

Archer Burlesque

A night of burlesque, comedy, and performance inspired by the fast-paced FX comedy Archer will take to Harvard Square’s Oberon. Different performers will take on different characters from the show for an even crazier spin on the wacky program. (Sunday, July 24 at 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.; Oberon; $20; 21+)
