Comedian Jenny Slate is coming to Boston

The Massachusetts native will perform at The Sinclair in August.

Perhaps no one had a more memorable first episode than Milton native Jenny Slate, who got in hot water for dropping an F-bomb in her first sketch on live television. For a one-season cast member, she made her mark with a number of memorable sketches like the doorbell saleswoman Tina-Tina Cheneuse. But it was not enough for a contract renewal. Now, Slate is everywhere - from guest spots on “Kroll Show’’ and “Bob’s Burgers’’ to a starring role in this summer’s indie comedy, “Obvious Child.’’ She also co-wrote and voiced the titular character in the Marcel the Shell with Shoes On stop-motion short films (adorable).Pictured: Actress Jenny Slate attended the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Grants Banquet in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Aug. 14. Jenny Slate, a seasoned comedian and noted “animaniac,” according to her own Twitter bio, will return to her native state later this summer for a stand-up performance in Boston. She was born and raised in Milton, Massachusetts.

Slate is the woman responsible for such internet classics as Marcel The Shell With Shoes On and Tina Tina Chanuse. She came into the mainstream spotlight in 2009 as a castmember on Saturday Night Live, when she infamously let the f-word slip during her first-ever live sketch on the show.

In spite of that, Slate has gone on to make a name for herself on TV—her belt notches include stints on Parks and Recreation, House of Lies, and Bob’s Burgersas well as more recently in cinema. In 2014, Slate starred as the quirky twentysomething Donna Stern in the indie flick Obvious Child, which was hailed as a breakout performance. The film was a hit at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival and received high praise from both critics and audiences.

Slate also garnered praise for her recent voice-over role in the animated film The Secret Life of Pets, which she landed alongside fellow comedy veterans Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet, Ellie Kemper, and Kevin Hart.

At the June premiere in New York, Slate made her public debut with her new boyfriend: star of the Captain America franchise and fellow Bay Stater, Chris Evans. “We grew up about half an hour away from each other,” Slate told Entertainment Tonight

Tickets are currently available for Slate’s Boston show, which will take place on August 14 at The Sinclair.
