30th Annual Boston Tuba Concert One hundred and fifty tuba players will serenade Faneuil Hall with loads of holiday tunes. (Saturday, November 28; 2 p.m.; Faneuil Hall Marketplace; free to attend)

Thanksgiving football games at Fenway If we learned anything from Friday Night Lights, it’s that high school football is pretty serious and that student athletes are super attractive. Head to Friendly Fenway on Wednesday or Thursday and catch some of the Bay State’s biggest rivalries. (Wednesday, November 25 at 4 p.m. to Thursday, November 26 at noon; Fenway Park; $20)

Turkey Trots Looking to break a sweat before the real Thanksgiving marathon begins (the dinner, obviously)? Check out one of several turkey trots, put on your cold-weather workout gear, and throw a few dollar at a local charity. (Various times, locations, and costs)

The Nutcracker ‘Tis the season, so kick off the holidays with a performance of the winter classic, choreographed by Boston Ballet artistic director Mikko Nissinen. The Sugar Plum Fairy is calling! (Opens Friday, November 27; various times; The Boston Opera House; $35+)

Bust Craftacular The Cyclorama in the South End plays host to more than 100 local craftspeople selling their wares for the holidays. While you’re there this weekend, stop by the pop-up cat cafe and sip some tea with a fine feline. (Saturday, November 28 at 11 a.m. to Sunday, November 29 at 6 p.m.; The Cyclorama; $3)

The Charles Hotel Annual Tree Lighting Event Cambridge gets its own holiday tree lighting ceremony, right at its heart in Harvard Square. Better yet, Shake Shack and Henrietta’s Table will come bearing hot chocolate and cookies, respectively. (Saturday, November 28; entertainment starts at 4 p.m., tree lighting at 5:30 p.m.; The Charles Hotel, Cambridge; free to attend)

Light Up the Row Assembly Row, in all its bright and shiny newness, is starting its own holiday tradition: a lighting event of Assembly’s iconic metal trusses. Some local bands and choruses will be there, as well as Mix 104.1’s morning show hosts, Karson & Kennedy. (Saturday, November 28; 5 p.m.; Assembly Row, Somerville; free to attend)

Local Is For Lovers Market If you miss Small Business Saturday, Somerville Local First is hosting another day that supports nearly 40 local businesses.
