Fans swarm Gillette and Xfinity Center for end-of-summer concerts
One Direction and Florida Georgia Line are taking the stage at the two nearby venues.
One Direction and Florida Georgia Line fans have taken over the vicinity surrounding Gillette Stadium in Foxborough and the Xfinity Center in Mansfield for both concerts this evening.
And with these concerts there comes the predicatable heavy traffic on Route 1, I-95, and I-495.
One Direction is expected to have 40,000-plus fans for their concert at the stadium, which is also the band’s last North American show before the English-Irish pop boy band goes on hiatus for the next year. The tour set to finish in Europe in October. The Gillette show will also be the group’s first in the area without Zayn Malik, who departed the tour in March, citing stress.
At the Xfinity Center, the seventh concert out of the center’s eight-show Country Megaticket series also features Thomas Rhett, Frankie Ballard, and pop-country band Florida Georgia Line. This show is sold out show, with the stadium holding over 19,000 fans of bro-country, which has experienced a boom in the Boston region in recent years.
