Boston Calling is trying something different with announcing its 2022 festival lineup.
Rather than announce all of the artists performing at the 2022 festival at once, Boston Calling will release a series of artist announcements over the next few months.
Boston Calling’s latest addition came on Aug. 19, with the festival announcing that pop rock sister trio HAIM, violinist-vocalist Sudan Archives, and singer-songwriter Celisse will perform at Boston Calling 2022. The three artists will join headliners Rage Against the Machine and Foo Fighters as well as hip-hop duo Run the Jewels and rock/soul group Black Pumas, who were announced July 14.
Along with announcing the three new artists, Boston Calling said on Twitter that a third headliner announcement will be “coming soon.”
In total, more than 50 performers will be announced ahead of the three-day festival, which will be held at Harvard Athletic Fields in Allston next Memorial Day weekend, May 27-29, 2022.
The announcement of Run the Jewels, who will perform at Boston Calling for a third time, was an unsurprising one. The duo, comprised of Killer Mike and El-P, are opening for Rage Against the Machine on the band’s North American tour, and had been announced as part of the festival’s 2020 lineup before its cancellation due to the pandemic.
“As we get closer to our return in 2022, we’re excited to reveal more artists on our Boston Calling lineup each month,” festival co-founder Brian Appel said in a press release. “Run the Jewels has been an incredible highlight at Boston Calling in years past and we look forward to welcoming them and Black Pumas, an extraordinary new artist playing the festival for the first time.”
A limited number of early bird 3-day tickets are on sale now at bostoncalling.com. The current pricing tiers for GA ($299.99), VIP ($799.99), and Platinum ($1,599.99) three-day passes are the lowest that will be available for the festival. If you want to bring a friend or a loved one, a limited-time two-pack of three-day GA tickets is also available for $549.99.
