Lil Nas X has already courted controversy with the music video for his newest single “Montero (Call Me by Your Name),” so it was no surprise that his performance of the song on the “SNL” season finale was similarly boundary-pushing.

Lil Nas X began his performance surrounded by leather-clad dancers and a set design that recalled the satanic imagery of his music video. After several minutes of gyrating, twerking, and neck-licking, the singer headed to a stripper pole, before seemingly splitting his pants. Nas then stood in place for the remainder of the song, wearing a wry smile while holding his hand over his crotch.

The performer seemingly confirmed the wardrobe malfunction in a series of posts on Twitter.
