Kanye West says he’s running for president
"We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States 🇺🇸 ! #2020VISION"
Kanye West on Saturday said he is joining the 2020 presidential race via a tweet hashtagged #2020Vision.
Reporters and media outlets quickly pointed out that West has not yet filed the Federal Election Commission paperwork required to get on the November ballot. His tweet came as people observed the July 4 holiday in varying degrees of lockdown across the country amid the coronavirus pandemic.

West, 43, has previously voiced his support for President Donald Trump and met the president to discuss prison reform with his wife, Kim Kardashian West, in 2018. On Saturday night, Kardashian West retweeted her husband’s announcement and added an American flag emoji.

West has publicly entertained the idea of running for president since the MTV Movie Awards in 2015, and in 2019 claimed that he would run for president in 2024 during Fast Company’s Innovation festival.
The 2020 election is November 3. Trump is the presumptive Republican nominee for president, and former Vice President Joe Biden is the presumptive Democratic nominee.
