Ina Garten entertains the internet with gigantic quarantine cocktail video
"You never know who's going to stop by. Wait a minute, nobody's stopping by!"
In-person cocktail hours may be a no-go at the moment with social distancing in effect, but “Barefoot Contessa” host Ina Garten still found a hilarious way to keep her favorite tradition alive.
The Food Network personality posted a two-minute video on herself on Instagram making a massive batch of cosmopolitan, which she enjoyed out of a comically large martini glass.
“During a crisis, cocktail hour can be almost any hour,” Garten said in the video, which she posted at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Garten started the video by pouring her ingredients — 2 cups of vodka, 1 cup of quantro (“or triple sec or any kind of orange liqueur”), 1 cup of cranberry juice, and 1/2 cup of freshly squeezed lime juice — into a giant pitcher.
“You need a big pitcher, because I like to make a lot of cosmos,” Garten said. “You never know who’s going to stop by. Wait a minute, nobody’s stopping by!”
Garten then pulled out a massive cocktail shaker to mix her ingredients with ice.
“You have to shake it for 30 seconds,” Garten said. “You have lots of time, it’s not a problem.”
Garten finished the instructional video by pouring her concoction into huge cocktail glass.
“Stay safe, have a very good time, and don’t forget the cocktails,” Garten said, before taking a sip.
