Casey Affleck went on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday night to talk about “Light of My Life,” his new movie about a father-daughter duo living in a post-apocalyptic world. The film, which Affleck wrote, directed, and acted in, opens in theaters August 9.

“He’s trying to raise her as well as he possibly can in a very dangerous world,” Affleck said of his character. “It’s like having kids in Hollywood.”

While he was with Kimmel, Affleck also made time to make fun of his brother Ben.

“I don’t bust his balls anymore because his career has just taken a nosedive,” Affleck said to laughs from the audience. “I gotta build him back up, you know what I mean. It’s no fun, when a guy’s down here, to kick him. You gotta build him back up.

“There are a lot of things I’ve learned from him,” he concluded. “He’s a very smart guy, good director.”

The two also talked about Affleck’s affinity for woodworking, and the actor gave the host a handmade baseball bat. Kimmel noted the choice of gift.

“Is this because your brother was Batman? You were like, ‘You know what? I’m now Bat Man,'” Kimmel said.
