A 25-year-old singer from Boston once again wowed coach Adam Levine on Monday night’s episode of “The Voice.”
Mia Boostrom, a Taunton native who lives in Boston, will continue competing on season 14 of the show after winning Monday night’s battle round. The singer made it onto the show March 5 during blind auditions, when Levine turned his chair for her. The other coaches this year are singers Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, and Blake Shelton.
On Monday night, Boostrom sang Clarkson’s “Because of You” with teammate Genesis Diaz during the battle rounds, when singers on the same team face off against each other while performing the same song. Levine, coach to both of the singers, chose Boostrom as the winner. Next, she’ll advance to the knockout rounds, which begin Monday. During a knockout round, an artist once again competes against a teammate, but sings a separate song of his or her own choosing.
Boostrom tweeted her appreciation following Monday’s episode, writing, “Thank you all so much for the incredible support during my #VoiceBattles. I am so thankful and blessed to be with @adamlevine! I can’t wait for the knockouts!!!!”

Boostrom is no stranger to televised talent competitions. She competed on “America’s Got Talent” when she was 15 years old and made it to the semifinals. According to her “Voice” profile, the exposure left her open to online bullying due to her weight, which hurt both her self-esteem and desire to make music. However, after she started eating healthier and exercising and “decided to no longer allow others to influence her,” she began pursuing music again. According to her profile, she now sings at open mic nights, teaches music lessons to kids, and performs at weddings in the Boston area.
Boostrom seemingly alluded to her past struggles in a tweet on March 6, the day after she made it onto ‘The Voice,” writing, “Your dreams are not limited. No matter your weight, skin, gender…you are worthy of following your heart. Last night showed me, that these years of learning to love the skin I’m in, was worth the fight.”
