Much like other late-night hosts, John Oliver didn’t spend a lot of time addressing Louis C.K.’s sexual misconduct, but he did admonish the Newton native with one quick joke during Sunday’s season finale of Last Week Tonight.
“In a lightning quick recap of the week,” Oliver said, “we saw everything from Republicans continuing to roll out their tax reform plan with all the grace of a horse falling down a spiral staircase to The New York Times reporting Louis C.K.’s gross sexual misconduct, which is completely indefensible, and which inevitably resulted in the cancellation of his new film, Exhibit A if This Ever Goes to Trial.”
On Friday, C.K. released a statement saying the allegations of sexual misconduct by five women in a Thursday New York Times article were true. Earlier that day, film distribution company The Orchard announced it would not be releasing C.K.’s controversial new movie, I Love You, Daddy. In the film, a character portrayed by actor Charlie Day pantomimes profusely masturbating with C.K. in the room before an actress enters, inevitably drawing comparisons to the accusations against the comedian.
