Chris Evans wants to be a dad
, Sudbury native Chris Evans plays a character named Frank Adler who takes on a father-figure role and attempts to do what’s best for his genius niece, Mary (Mckenna Grace).
In an E! News video published Friday, Evans said he wants to be a dad in real life someday.
“I have a big family,” Evans told E! News correspondent Marc Malkin. “I have a lot of nieces and nephews and cousins, a lot of people in my life.”
“Does that mean Chris wants to be a daddy?” Malkin asked.
“Chris does want to be a daddy at some point,” Evans replied with a smile.
“Another big Boston family?” Malkin prodded.
“Yeah, why not?” Evans said.
Some of Evans’s best-known relatives are his brother, fellow actor Scott Evans (One Life to Live), and his uncle, U.S. Rep. Michael Capuano, the longtime politician who has served Massachusetts in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1999 and previously served as the mayor of Somerville from 1990 to 1999.
Evans also offered praise for his on-screen niece in Gifted (which opens April 7), saying that Grace’s powerful audition made him excited for the movie from the very beginning.
“Mckenna came in, and we had to do a heavy scene,” Evans said. “We weren’t going to let her dodge that in the audition, and she nailed it. She just nailed it. And then you get excited. Then you start thinking about how much potential this movie could have.”
