Wait for it: Here’s when ‘Hamilton’ is coming to Boston
Hamilton
is officially coming to Boston in 2018.
Broadway in Boston announced that the touring cast and production of the hip-hop musical about Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr (sir), and other Founding Fathers will perform a two-month run at the Boston Opera House, from Sept. 18, 2018 through Nov. 18, 2018.
The dates were announced at the Lexus Broadway in Boston Season Announcement event at the Boston Opera House on Monday night.
The Tony-winning show created by Lin-Manuel Miranda officially kicked off its first U.S. tour in San Francisco last week, and is scheduled to stop in several other cities, including Los Angeles, San Diego, and Seattle. Hamilton also has a resident production with a separate cast in Chicago; that production opened in the fall of 2016.
Broadway in Boston also announced that their 2017-18 season will feature touring company performances of The Phantom of the Opera (Sept. 13-Oct. 1, 2017), Fun Home (Oct. 17-29, 2017), Love Never Dies (Jan. 30-Feb. 11, 2018), Waitress (Feb. 20-March 4, 2018), On Your Feet! (April 17-29, 2018), Disney’s Aladdin (July 3-Aug. 5. 2018), and The Book of Mormon (Aug. 14-26, 2018), as well.
The Sara Bareilles-composed musical Waitress, based on the 2007 film starring Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion, had its world premiere at Harvard University’s American Repertory Theater in 2015 before opening on Broadway in 2016.
