Throughout Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony, singers performed portions of the pieces nominated for Best Original Song, including Justin Timberlake opening the show with “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” from the film Trolls and Lin-Manuel Miranda rapping a prologue to “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana.

Rock musician Sting also performed his Oscar-nominated song, “The Empty Chair,” which was written for the movie Jim: The James Foley Story. The film is a documentary about photojournalist James Foley, a New Hampshire native who was killed by members of ISIS in 2014.

Jim was co-written by Foley’s childhood friends Brian Oakes and Heather MacDonald (who is a Boston.com employee), and directed by Oakes.
