Most actors appearing on a late-night show to plug an upcoming movie usually make a few jokes, share an amusing anecdote about themselves, and then show a clip from the film. Matt Damon, whose new film The Great Wall hits theaters February 17, is not like most actors, especially when he’s on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

Instead, Damon showed up on last night’s episode to claim that he’s the father of the late-night host’s unborn child with wife Molly McNearney, leading to another amusing chapter in the Kimmel-Damon “feud.”

The skit began with a showdown between Damon and Kimmel in the doctor’s office, with Damon suggesting they let the baby decide which of the two men are the father.

“Hello, baby!” Damon said, crouching down next to McNearney’s belly. “We don’t know if you’re a boy or a girl, but you have a choice of daddies. And one daddy could be an Emmy loser…”

“Emmy nominee!” Kimmel interrupted.

“Same thing,” Damon said. “Other daddy could be an Oscar winner.”

To settle the paternity argument, the trio appeared on a hilarious faux episode of Maury (titled “The Unborn Identity”), with Martin Short playing daytime host Maury Povich.

The parody is spot-on, with traditional elements of Maury on display, including a black-and-white diss fest, a hooting and hollering live audience, and ridiculous dancing from both Damon and Kimmel when Maury reveals the results of the paternity test.

After the sketch, Kimmel offered a not-so-ringing endorsement of Damon’s new film.

“Matt Damon has a new movie called The Great Wall opening on Friday,” Kimmel said. “Please don’t go see it.”
