Cambridge native Mindy Kaling stopped by The Late Show on Monday to promote the season debut of The Mindy Project on Hulu, but also took time to go mop shopping with Stephen Colbert, give the late-night host some fashion advice, and discuss new details about the upcoming all-female Ocean’s 11 reboot, Ocean’s Eight.

Along with Kaling, the cast of Ocean’s Eight is set to include Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, and comedian-musician Awkwafina. Sarah Paulson is also rumored to be in talks to be the eighth and final member of the team, according to Deadline.

With such a powerhouse cast, Kaling told Colbert she was pretty sure whatever talent she’s supposed to bring to the heist team won’t be as cool as that of her costars.

“In these Ocean’s movies, everyone’s got their skill they bring to the caper,” Colbert said. “So what’s your skill?

“I know my skill’s gonna be like, I get attacked by the guard dog, so they can break into the casino,” Kaling said.

Kaling also revealed that the film will be set in New York City, and that there is a fashion element to the film, which lends credence to the rumor that the plot may center around a heist at the Met Gala.

Kaling, who said she will start work on the film in two weeks, is pretty excited to be a part of it.

“This movie is like, if you took all my favorite things and shook it up in a blender,” Kaling said.
