30 chances to catch free outdoor movies this summer
Don’t spend warm nights indoors, thanks to these series.
Summer means spending as much time as possible outside before the cold comes back. But you don’t have to give up your lazy nights of lounging around while you watch a movie. Thanks to these programs, you can veg out in front of a screen while still enjoying the outdoors.
Family Film Festival at the Prudential Center
This free programming that’s chock-full of family-friendly flicks is back at the Prudential Center this summer. Sponsored by Magic 106.7, the movie nights occur every Saturday throughout July and August. Children’s activities and giveaways start at 6 p.m., and films begin at sundown. Rain dates will be held the following Tuesday. Feel free to bring snacks, picnics blankets, and beach chairs.

This is WBZ Radio’s 31st year sponsoring free movie events at the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade. Movies began at sundown, but you may want to arrive early to grab a good spot and enjoy free games and giveaways starting at 6 p.m. Food, blankets, and lawn chairs are also welcome.

Summer in the City at Boston Harbor Hotel
If you’d rather hang down by the waterfront on Friday nights, the Boston Harbor Hotel has you covered with their 18th annual Summer in the City entertainment series. The hotel offers live music Tuesday through Thursday, and then every Friday they show a classic movie. Enjoy some al fresco-style dinner and a movie for a perfect summer date or friends’ or family night out.
