, the much-talked-about feature film that will chronicle the events surrounding the Boston Marathon bombings, is filming in Framingham this week. Specifically, filmmakers are shooting a recreation of the apprehension of convicted Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in Watertown on April 19, 2013.
CBS Films originally intended to film in Watertown. However, after some residents objected, Town Manager Michael Driscoll announced that it would “not in the best interest of Watertown.”
Both Boston-area police officers and actors in uniform participated in the filming, which has so far taken place on Harrison Street in Framingham on Tuesday and Wednesday.
This boat with what appeared to be bullet holes could be seen in the backyard of a home on Harrison Street.
Many onlookers gathered near the set, phones out.
The onlookers watched as police cruisers drove onto the active film set.
An SUV entered the active film set, too. Onlookers who were hoping to see a celebrity speculated that the vehicle was probably carrying one of the film’s stars, possibly Kevin Bacon or John Goodman. Mark Wahlberg had been previously seen arriving and departing the set in a black Cadillac Escalade.
Law enforcement vehicles and people in tactical police uniforms jammed Harrison Street.
Shooting went late, but that didn’t stop onlookers from standing by.
A boy riding a bicycle, apparently an extra in the film, could be seen along with crew members and people in law enforcement uniforms on the set.
Men in police tactical gear gathered near the filming location for a scene.
The depicted scenes appeared eerily similar to the events of April 19, 2013.
