Fallout 4 is moving from post-apocalyptic Boston to Maine with a new expansion

How similar will be to Bar Harbor?

Fallout 4 was the biggest video game of 2015, earning approximately $750 million in the first 24 hours of its release. Gamers flocked to the popular franchise as it explored Boston 200 years after a nuclear bomb hit the city, and this spring, they’ll have a chance to explore a new part of New England with game publisher Bethesda’s new Fallout 4 expansion, titled Far Harbor.

Far Harbor, which is expected to be available in May, is one of three expansions Bethesda announced on its blog Tuesday, along with Automatron, a robot-building adventure, and Wasteland Workshop, a game that sounds a bit like the Fallout version of Pokemon in which players capture creatures and train them to battle against other settlers. Of the three, Far Harbor is by far the largest, and based on Bethesda’s description, sounds the most like a traditional Fallout game.

A new case from Valentine’s Detective Agency leads you on a search for a young woman and a secret colony of synths. Travel off the coast of Maine to the mysterious island of Far Harbor, where higher levels of radiation have created a more feral world. Navigate through the growing conflict between the synths, the Children of Atom, and the local townspeople. Will you work towards bringing peace to Far Harbor, and at what cost?

Whether Far Harbor will feature realistic models of Bar Harbor or other Maine cities remains to be seen. But fans of Fallout 4 who plan to purchase Far Harbor (which will retail for $24.99), Wasteland Workshop ($4.99), Automatron ($9.99) or other future downloadable content (DLC) might want to consider buying a season pass — which grants players access to all DLC Bethesda releases — for $29.99. Bethesda has promised there will be more releases coming in 2016, and as a result will be raising the season pass price from $29.99 to $49.99 on March 1.
