Beyonce annihilated the Super Bowl halftime show

She (and to a lesser extent, Bruno Mars) stole the show.

So Coldplay headlined Super Bowl 50’s halftime show, but we all came and stayed for Beyonce—and a bit of Bruno.

Coldplay kicked it off with their own set. But Beyonce — a day after dropping a new track, “Formation’’ — strolled onto the field in Santa Clara, the godforsaken grass, and gave the song its first live performance. In her wardrobe tribute to Michael Jackson’s iconic 1993 half-time show, Bey and her lady squad of dancers served killer choreography.

Her crew met Bruno Mars midstage, who was channeling a bit of MJ himself (and leaving Chris Martin trolling his own halftime show).

The visual effects were impressive, even in Coldplay’s set. It ended with a nice little tribute to 50 years of Super Bowl halftime shows, and an uplifting message embedded in the crowd.
