Johnny D’s will officially close up shop this March
The venue has been in Davis Square since 1969.
When Davis Square music venue Johnny D’s announced its plans to close back in July, no date had been specified. In fact, there hasn’t been much in the way of updates for the past seven months. Until now.
Unfortunately, Johnny D’s does still plan to close, with a farewell scheduled for March 13, according to a post on the club’s website. While few details have been announced for the event, it will be free, with the club inviting patrons to “Join our Second Line on our Final Day.’’
The closure of Johnny D’s is the latest in a string of music venue closures that also included TT the Bear’s Place back in July. Johnny D’s first opened in 1969 and has become a destination for both comedy and music over the years, as well as one of the homes of the annual Honk! Fest.
