Chris Pine talks Boston things: the North “Side,’’ the BPL, and Chris Evans
The Finest Hours actor answered fan questions during a recent Q&A.
On Monday, in a Q&A with fans on Entertainment Weekly’s Tumblr, The Finest Hours star Chris Pine talked about the biggest challenges he faced while filming the New England-set movie, what he thinks of Boston, and how he would rank Hollywood stars who share his first name.
When an anonymous user asked the actor, “Who is the best Chris? Evans, Hemsworth or Pratt?’’ Pine replied: “I always rank my Chrises [sic] alphabetically.’’
Which means, in Pine’s view, Evans is at the top of the Chris List.
In the Q&A, Pine also talked about his experience filming the upcoming Disney feature, which was shot in Quincy, Chatham, and Marshfield, among other Massachusetts towns. (All quotes appear as Pine typed them.)
“It was probably the hardest shoot I’ve done,’’ he wrote in response to one fan’s question about what it was like to film such an intense movie. “I don’t think anyone likes to be cold, wet and miserable but keeping in mind what all those guys went through years ago kept my actorly complaints in check.’’
Pine said that he didn’t have enough time to explore Boston quite as closely as he’d hoped. But he nevertheless scouted out some favorite spots during his time in the city.
“I worked a lot in Boston, so I didn’t have much time to walk around,’’ Pine wrote to a fan who asked how he liked his time in New England. “My Dad wanted me to check out John Adams birthplace in Quincy but I was too busy filming. I got to tool around the North Side a bit, found a coffee shop I liked and of course the breathtaking public library.’’
The Finest Hours, which also stars Massachusetts native Casey Affleck, hits theaters January 29.
