A local firefighter just won the latest season of Survivor

Congrats, Jeremy!

Yes, Survivor is still on television, and last night, a local hero landed $1 million in winnings. Jeremy Collins, a Cambridge firefighter who lives in Foxboro, originally appeared on—and was eliminated from—season 29, Survivor: San Juan Del Sur. He returned for this season, number 31, Survivor: Cambodia – Second Chance, ‘on which he remained the sole survivor last night.

After 39 days of competition, Collins was the last man standing, beating out finalists Tasha Fox and Spencer Bledsoe by getting a clean sweep of all 10 votes.

He was joined at the final tribal council by his wife, Val, a Foxboro police officer who competed with Collins on season 29 of Survivor. Collins is a father of two daughters, and his wife is currently pregnant with the couple’s first son—news that, according to The Sun Chronicle, Collins hid from other cast members to avoid sympathy votes that might send him home.

It should be a happy holiday in the Collins household, especially for Jeremy, who now has a bed to sleep on again.
