‘Big Lebowski’ is taking over a bowling alley in Cambridge
Fans can unite at Lanes & Games for one night this month.
Fans of The Big Lebowski are everywhere, and they’re a proud kind. Local fans of the film — or avid bowlers with a sense of curiosity — can all party in the same place, as Lanes & Games in Cambridge will host, “The Dude Imbibes: An Interactive Movie & Cocktail Experience’’ on Monday, August 17.
The event is $50 to attend and includes a round of bowling, shoe rental, and a cocktail tasting paired with the movie.
“Our goal is fully immersive,’’ says Maureen Hautaniemi, event coordinator at OFFSITE. “Actors playing the roles of key characters in vignettes around the space while people bowl. Elements of the film will come alive during the show, and cocktails and a snack will be flighted to further enhance the viewing experience.’’

Yes, white russians will be served, but that’s not all. Bartenders from Backbar in Union Square will be on-site to craft signature cocktails that pair with specific scenes from the film. The night will also feature a costume contest, so don’t forget your shawl neck sweaters and sunglasses.
“Sure, we expect some Dudes, but we encourage people to look beyond the eponymous character and to feel free to pay homage to some of the other amazing personalities and get-ups in the film,’’ says Hautaniemi.
Think you’ve got the best costume? Well that’s just, like, your opinion, man.
Prizes will be awarded to people with the best costumes, the winner of an Instagram competition, and the person who rolls the highest single game.
