Olivia Jordan of Oklahoma took home the crown at last night’s Miss USA ceremony in Baton Rouge.

Sporting a breathtaking hot pink dress, the 26-year-old left a huge impression on the judges by bringing up this country’s problems with race relations during the interview portion of the contest.

“We have not solved this issue,’’ Jordan said. “We really need to work on being an accepting society.’’

Jordan’s comments couldn’t be more timely. Pageant co-owner Donald Trump, who was not in attendance Sunday night, has been taking a ton of criticism for his recent remarks over Mexican immigrants.

While local fans may have been rooting for Polikseni Manxhari of Massachusetts, they can take solace in the fact that Jordan is a Boston University alum. The new Miss USA earned her B.S. in Health Science from BU, according to Yahoo! News.

Another New Englander came up big on Sunday night—Anea Garcia, Miss Rhode Island, took home third place in the contest.
